Cellular South Launches Unlimited Calling PlanOct 9, 2007 Cellular South has jumped into the "unlimited" market with the launch of its True Unlimited Nationwide Plan for voice and data services. The plan includes unlimited calls, text messaging, photos, e-mail and Internet access for a flat rate of $79.99 for phones and $99.99 for PDAs and smartphones. The carrier doesn't plan to require existing customers to re-up their contracts to sign up for the plan. According to Suzy Hays, Cellular South's senior vice president of marketing, says this plan takes away customer concerns about unexpected overage charges as can be experienced with other plans. Also, she says the company has noticed that a higher percentage of Cellular South customers choose to eliminate their landline services due to the flat rate wireless plans compared to a national average -- more than 25% vs. 10%. The unlimited plan is the latest addition to the carrier's suite of services. Earlier this year, Cellular South introduced Obopay, a new mobile payment service that allows customers to send and receive money directly from their wireless devices. It also recently completed a WirelessWallet trial in the cities of Memphis, Tenn., and Jackson, Miss. It found that 87% of trial users are interested in using the service when it becomes available. Ease of use and convenience were the top ranked features of the service. Cellular South plans to launch a commercial m-commerce offering early next year. |
