Sprint Launches Hispanic Mobile ChatDec 7, 2006 The Hispanic population has become a popular target market segment among wireless carriers. The latest: Sprint Nextel is launching two Spanish-language mobile chat communities geared specifically for Hispanic users. The first of the two offerings is Chat del Mundo from Jumbuck Entertainment. Chat del Mundo is a dedicated chat community for Spanish speakers that lets users create a profile, share images and video and interact with and form a list of global friends. The service runs $1.99 per month and is available in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Spain, Colombia, Panama, Venezuela and the United States. The second community is Muchachat from Cellfish Media. Muchachat will allow Sprint customers to create profiles. The service also will enable the use of avatars to represent users, searching other users by age, location, description and nickname and exchanging messages with other members. A 50-cent charge will be levied for each message sent. The new mobile chat communities complement a bilingual chat product, Latino Lounge, which was introduced earlier in the year, according to the carrier. Other Hispanic-targeted services offered by Sprint include Sprint TV En Vivo, a live Spanish TV channel, which is available over the Sprint Power Vision network. In other Sprint Nextel news, the carrier has revamped its Sprint.com Website to include a host of new features. Sprint Digital Lounge, for instance, enables users to find, preview, buy and manage digital media content such as ringers, screen savers, games, applications, multimedia themes, music and call tones, while online. The site also now incorporates Intelligent Search (i-Search), which, according to the carrier, makes it easier for customers to locate information about products and services. |
