Melodeo Podcasts Available on Cingular Wireless

Melodeo's Mobilcast podcast service has attracted another U.S. wireless provider as a customer. The latest: Cingular Wireless customers will now have the ability to search for and stream or download podcasts to their wireless phones.

Through the service launch, Cingular customers will have access to podcast episodes and radio shows from a range of familiar brands such as NPR, The New York Times, CBS, FOX and MSNBC, as well as independent sources around the world. Available podcasts will range in topics from comedy, music and sports to education, health and politics.

The Mobilcast service will work on most Cingular handsets, according to the companies. A monthly subscription will run $4.99 plus usage charges.

In August, Alltel Wireless became the first U.S. wireless carrier to roll out the mobile phone software application.
