NY Times Launches Free Mobile News Site

New York Times Co. (NYT) launched a mobile site providing access to news and information from NYTimes.com via mobile devices including Web-enabled phones and PDAs.

The New York media company's mobile site can be activated for free by typing http://mobile.nytimes.com into the Web browser of a Web-enabled phone or PDA.

The company said the site isn't dependent on carriers and than anyone who pays for a Web data plan will be able to access it.
