Cellphone NewsSamsung Debuts Site for Mobile FilmsDec 22, 2005 Korea-based Samsung Electronics Co. announced a new Website, AnyFilms.net, that offers short films for mobile and Internet users. The site features a short film series that can be downloaded to certain Samsung mobile phones that support video playback. The SGH-D600, a 2 Megapixel slide-up camera phone launched in September, and the SGH-i300, a 3 Gigabyte HDD music smartphone launched in November, are featured in the films. In addition to the short film series, the site offers Interactive Films, through which users can become their own producers by tailoring content through multiple combinations of plot, style and mood. Samsung says it created AnyFilms.net to push the envelope of mobile and multimedia entertainment. "As mobile phones become the multimedia hub for communications and entertainment, mobile content is becoming more and more important," said Daniel Chung, vice president of Samsung Electronics Telecommunication Network Business, in a press release. "As a leader of mobile phone technology, Samsung will continuously provide our users with futuristic multimedia experiences." Users will be able to download the films and special wallpapers to mobile phones beginning on Dec. 24 in the United Kingdom. Support for additional countries will be added beginning in January. |
