Cellphone NewsMobileSphere Touts Wireless Long Distance RatesDec 14, 2005 MobileSphere unveiled CellularLD, a long-distance calling service offering wireless customers international calling rates as low as 5 cents per minute. The service, according to the company, works with any wireless carrier on any cell phone. CellularLD is designed to handle international calls, while a user's individual wireless carrier remains responsible for domestic calls. International calls are placed with the service by first dialing an access number. Callers must register for CallerLD before services can be rendered, the company says. "Consumers are increasingly using their cell phones for both business and pleasure, and international calling is rapidly becoming an important feature," says Mark Allen, director of marketing for CellularLD. Last month, MobileSphere introduced CarrierILD, an international long distance (ILD) solution for MVNOs and wireless carriers. Using MobileSphere's patent-pending softswitch technology and global Tier 1 network, U.S. and international MVNOs and wireless carriers can now offer fully integrated international calling services to their subscribers, according to the company. |
