Cellphone NewsDwango Becomes DijjiDec 13, 2005 As promised, Dwango Wireless is continuing to boost its independence from Dwango Co. The latest: The mobile media company has changed its name to Dijji Corporation. Dijji gained its independence in October by forging a trademark and technology separation agreement with Japanese mobile entertainment supplier Dwango Co. The agreement freed Dijji from having to pay Dwango Co. a royalty or licensing fee. Day-to-day operations, according to the companies, were not to be affected by the deal. "The Dijji brand reflects the company's commitment to innovation, creativity and growth," Dijji's Director of Marketing Communications Jared Nieuwenhuis says. Dijji's client roster includes ESPN, Napster, Playboy, Rolling Stone and USA Today. As part of its corporate rebranding, the company launched a new website (www.dijji.com) and is now trading under a new ticker symbol: DJJI. The stock began trading today on the Over-The-Counter Bulletin Board (OTCBB). The company recently reported less than stellar second-quarter results, which prompted the company to commit to reducing its workforce by 30 percent. At the time of the announcement, the company said it was making a commitment to concentrate on premium lifestyle and affiliate brands, including Rolling Stone, Napster and Playboy. |
