Nov. 2, 2005

Following a recent commercial launch of its mobile podcast service, Melodeo says it is ready to move the service to the next level by unveiling its Mobilcast Network.

The recently launched podcast service is powered by Mobilcast software enables users to locate and download podcasts to mobile phones, which means podcast seekers are no longer be tethered to their PCs to locate content. The software, which is available free of charge, lets users download content over the air. The company also added the ability to download the software via SMS.

With its latest product unveiling, Melodeo says users will now be able to find, download and listen to podcast on their mobile phones, as well as recommend podcasts to be added to the Mobilcast catalog.

Customers who add podcasts become known as Mobilcast Affiliates. "We became a Mobilcast Affiliate because we think mobilcasting is a great way to increase our listener base," says Andrew Sims of MuggleNet, a leading Harry Potter fan site that already has 70,000 listeners.

Melodeo also offers Mobile Music Service software that is designed to create music files that are smaller than a typical MP3 file. Between 75 and 125 tracks can be stored on 64 MB of memory, according to the company.
