Cellphone NewsNextel Partners Unveils International PTT SmartphoneOct. 6, 2005 Nextel Partners is rolling out the Motorola i930. The handset is the first Windows Mobile-based smartphone to offer Nextel walkie-talkie service on an international basis, according to Nextel Partners. The smartphone, which operates on the 800/900 iDEN and 900/1800 GSM frequencies, offers wireless synchronization with Microsoft Outlook e-mail, calendar and contacts or personal Internet e-mail. The i930 will support voice calls in more than 100 countries. Data roaming capabilities, including Web browsing, e-mail and text and multimedia messaging, are possible in parts of North America, South America, Europe and Asia, according to the company. Other features include a built-in camera and camcorder, and it comes preloaded with Windows Mobile ClearVue Suite to enable presentations, graphs, worksheets, documents and image files to be opened and viewed on the device. Nextel Partners is offering the i930 for $349.99 with a signed 2-year service agreement. The company is selling the device through its company-owned stores and its national dealer network. |
